Programs

Commemorative Ribbon Cuttings - Held for new members and any businesses expanding or changing locations. Ribbon Cuttings are advertised in the local newspaper calendar of events, generally get local TV coverage and are open to the public.
Gift Certificate Program - Designed to promote "Shopping Local". A cooperative effort between the RACC and businesses like yours to encourage people to spend their money and shop locally. No cost to the companies involved in the gift certificate program- just the benefit of having patrons spend their gift certificate with you! In 2011 $47,000 was kept in Person County through this program.
Leadership Person County - A 15-week leadership development course designed to ensure a continuing reservoir of leadership talent for the future.
Small Business Seminars - Mini-courses and workshops offered at no charge or for a nominal fee. Co-sponsored by the Chamber and the Piedmont Community College Business Development and Entrepreneurship Center, these course listings and location appear in the monthly Chamber Report.


Events

Annual Banquet - Over 400 people gather the third week in January for this upbeat kick-off to the new year featuring a motivational speaker and/or musical entertainment, great door prizes and the installation of new officers.
Business After Hours - Open exclusively to Chamber members, this event is hosted and sponsored by Chamber members at their locations and provides an opportunity for informal networking, socializing, door prizes, food & fun.
Good Morning Coffee Hours - Guest speakers address a variety of topics at a monthly breakfast open to the public. Sponsorship by Chamber members make this possible
Personality - An annual two day festival held in June for kids of all ages featuring mechanical rides, huge inflatables, food vendors, craft, awareness, business and industry boths and wide variety of entertainment.
Safety Awards Banquet - Sponsored by the RACC and the North Carolina Department of Labor to recognize the safety achievements of local businesses, industries, schools and governmental agencies.


Awards

Brick Award - The Brick Award was developed to recognize the contribution businesses make to the community when they expand, renovate or improve their facilities. This award will be presented at Coffee Hours as warranted. Nominations for the Brick Award will be received at the Chamber from the membership at large.
Jim Stovall Chamber Champion - This prestigious award, presented at the Annual Banquet in January each year, recognizes an exceptional individual who contributes in "outstanding" ways to the success of the Chamber.

The 2011 Chamber Champion was Jim Stovall, the "Father of Economic Development" in Person County.
Roxboro MedAccess Small Business of the Year Award - This prestigious award sponsored by the Small Business Development & Entrepreneurship Center of Piedmont Community College and the Small Business Committee of the Roxboro Area Chamber of Commerce was presented to Roxboro MedAccess for 2011.


To be eligible, a business must have been in operation for three years, have no more than 50 employees, practice proper business ethics, demonstrate excellence, and make a contribution to the community.
